CALL FOR POETRY: AGENDA #73 –Biopolitics

Agenda requests poetry contributions for publication in issue 73, working title “Biopolitics”.

Context:
This journal will be the first part
of a trilogy on New Technologies (part two – reproductive rights and HIV/AIDS;
part three – intellectual property rights), to be published in September 2007.
It will look specifically at what is commonly called ‘green’ biopolitics – how biopolitics play themselves out in our environment, e.g. agriculture,
genetically modified (GM) food, nuclear power, water, waste, natural resources, etc. We are specifically interested in what impact these developments have on
the lives and rights of women living in Africa and other developing countries.

This journal will look at the exploitation of the environment and its people, particularly women, as well as the resulting, increasing inequalities and social injustice. Writers should investigate the ‘power politics’ of governments and industry that undermine people’s (women’s) basic rights to be healthy and have access to (natural) resources, e.g. food and water.
Length of poetry contributions: Poems to fit a full page of the Agenda Journal.
Deadline: 28 June 2007
