Agenda Feminist Media Organizational Diagnosis and Review


Agenda Feminist Media requests the submission of proposals from service providers who are interested in providing consulting services to the organisation

Background

Agenda Feminist Media is a non-profit organization. The Agenda Feminist Media Project was founded in 1987. It was the initiative of a small group of women activists and academics working in and around Durban

Organization Review

After 20 years of publishing, Agenda is undertaking a comprehensive review of its systems, structures, programmatic approach and policies to enable the alignment of the structuring and operation of the organisation with its vision and objectives, as well as to ensure that it is better placed to meet the challenges of the new era.

Agenda hereby invites tenders from suitable companies or consultants that have a proven track record to undertake the following project. 

Organizational Diagnosis and Review Process 

Tender specification

Agenda will be undertaking a comprehensive review, diagnosis and scan of all its current systems, structures, programmatic approach and policies.  This process will entail a review and analysis of a number of issues, including:

  1. Programmatic focus, operational structure and integration - journal, radio and writing programmes
  2. Programmatic output, relevance, impact and reach
  3. Geographic location and operational structuring of personnel posts to service programmes
  4. Financial planning, fundraising and sustainability
  5. Staff development, support and turnover
  6. Corporate governance and leadership structures - composition, role, decision-making and authority, interaction and function
  7. Collective values and principles - consistent with section 21 company requirements
  8. Approach to addressing men's participation and gender issues affecting boys and men
  9. Approach to strategic partnerships and collaboration - organizational and programmatic linkages

Services and Competencies Required

We invite a service provider that can assist with the above exercise to put forward a proposal in this regard.  We are looking for demonstrable knowledge and expertise in the following areas:

  1. Comprehensive organizational diagnosis and evaluations
  2. Non-profit environment and current socio-political context
  3. An understanding of feminism and the local media landscape would be an added advantage
  4. Organizational policy review
  5. Programme and project management
  6. Successful candidates will be those who possess the following:
  1. Proven track record, with access to references, on the above requirements, especially in organizational development, turn around processes and strengthening of organizational systems
  2. Proven track record in the structuring and assessment of programmes
  3. Proven experience in supporting South African non-profit organizations to effectively position and structure themselves to best address organizational mandate within the current climate
