Issue # 78
The
engendering of both national and global economic polices is an
important step as part of the process of moving along a continuum from

Issue # 77 'Media'
Gender
stereotyping is rife in commercial and mainstream media, but what is
the extent of gendered thinking and expression in different forms of
community media, be it print, radio, TV or internet? Differently from
mainstream media, community media has a mandate to reflect community
and be owned by community, to promote and encourage media development,
transformation and diversity. Community media has an inherent link to
policy and the state. |

The concept of ‘family’ is seen as a vital building block of society.
The human race values it highly, dubbing it one of the most crucial
social institutions for child-rearing.
At the same time, family is an
artificially constructed phenomenon with a multitude of undocumented
laws on the role and responsibility of parents.

HIV and AIDS Trilogy Vol.1,1
It is a much-repeated and uncontested fact that the burden of HIV and
AIDS sits most heavily upon the shoulders of women, especially those in
rural areas.
It is almost a mantra of HIV and AIDS activism that sub-Saharan Africa
is the epicentre of the scourge, that the spread of the virus is driven
by poverty and inequality, and that it can be driven back by investment
in comprehensive health systems and provision of anti-retroviral
therapy.
