Durban Youth Radio

Broadcasting from The Workshop, Durban Youth Radio is described as "young, upmarket, politically aware and morally responsible - the station that pumps the most". Targeting high school pupils and young professionals, the station has been on air since 1995, transferring from the University of KwaZulu-Natal to the community in 2001. Listeners are 80% black, 15% coloured, 4% Asian and 1% white.

Highway Radio 

Highway Radio is a Christian station broadcasting from Pinetown and targets listeners aged 25 to 49 - half of them Indian, 20% black and the remaining 30% white and coloured. Programming is 30% talk and 70% music, with news, traffic, surf, beach and weather reports.

Imbokodo

Imbokodo Community Radio began its life as an empowerment project by women's organisation Sobonakhona. The group attended a workshop on community radio in 1995, immediately applied for a broadcasting license. The station broadcasts in Zulu to people of all ages, with 30% music and 70% talk, including current affairs, health, business, agriculture, sport, youth and culture.

Maputaland Community Radio

Maputaland Community broadcasts from Jozini targeting mainly targets Zulu speakers (85%), with the rest English, Tsonga, Swazi and Afrikaans. Programming reflects Zulu culture, is not age-specific, and is made up of music and talk in equal measure. It includes issues on youth, women, environment, current affairs, labour and the economy, as well as community-based talks and interviews.
