The theme of this podcast was a result of the realisation of the shortage of studies dealing with issues that affect girls in Southern Africa. While studies focusing on girls and girlhood within the broader range of work within feminism and social change have increased tremendously in the last two decades, many of the existing works are produced in the United States, England, Australia and Canada. In contrast, there is a dearth of studies on girls in developing countries – and Southern Africa in particular.

It’s very sad necesaliry in my country. A girl child is vulnerable at an early stage. Limited resources for her future.
Thank you for a very informative podcast. I work at a pre-school and see already how young girls are so vulnerable. They are expected (at a very young age) to take responsibility for themselves. The same emphasis is not placed on the boy children.
